How do authors decide what stories to write? Are there any
subjects they wouldn't tackle? How do novelists approach
writing characters very different from themselves?
Find out how two very talented writers approach their craft in
this special In Conversation event.
The author of 10 novels, including Secrecy and Air and Fire,
Rupert Thomson has been compared to writers as various as Dickens,
Kafka, Paul Auster, Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Elmore Leonard.
Ian McGuire's second novel The
North Water has just been released and is already
attracting tremendous critical acclaim.
Our Diary of Events page has more
info on other authors appearing at the festival.
