Support Our Work in Schools
Working with
Young People in schools as well as at our writing groups in Ilkley
and Bradford is a very important part of what we do and we deliver an
extensive programme of workshops, author visits and events across
Bradford and Leeds throughout the year, not just in October.
Ilkley Literature Festival is a charity and a one off or monthly
donatation would help us extend our work with young people,
kick start a new children's writing group and encourage the next
generation of writers.
Our most recent project was aimed at engaging pupils with Shakespeare
in a new way and saw pupils at Allerton High in Leeds, Dixon King's
Academy in Bradford and Ilkley Grammar performing Shakespeare themed
flashmobs around their schools with the help of Chicken
Shop Shakespeare. You can read more about this project,
including some of the poetry written by students here.
As well as the launch of Bradford Young Writers Group, over the next
few months we will be working on another student
led event for primary school pupils and taking authors and
poets in to schools to deliver workshops for students of all ages.
If you
would like to help support our development work, you can donate here.
We are
grateful for all the donations we receive and they make a real
difference to the work we do and the lives of young people in the
region.
