February's news from Slung Low   February already? Where does the time go? Activities at the HUB are well underway with the performance programme in full swing (more on that later), the Writers Group galloping on a-pace and the HUB Choir in fine voice on a Tuesday evening (its not too late to come and exercise the vocal chords and swell the ranks - new members can sign up here.) A little later in the year, Slung Low will be returning to Holbeck Working Men's Club who will host another of our "15 Minutes Live" - find out more about that and reserve your places here. More news as writers and performers are confirmed but do follow us on Twitter and Facebook for regular updates. Looking ahead in the HUB - the next performance (Out of Chaos's Macbeth on Sun 21 Feb) is now sold out, but there's chance to see them elsewhere in Yorkshire as they perform at The Civic in Barnsley (25 Feb)  & Cast Doncaster (26 Feb) The brilliant Cheryl Martin who makes her HUB debut in March - ALASKA has been described by performance poet Chanje Kunda as "a devastatingly beautiful show, … poetic narrative and heart achingly profound… absolutely pioneering …people should go". There will be performances at 2pm and 5pm with a limited capacity of 30 people in each, so do get your reservations in if you haven't already. Also in a late addition to our Spring programme, there's a mid-week performance of  award-winning theatre maker Andy Smith's THE PRESTON BILL which will perform at the HUB on Tue 26th April And don't forget to secure your places for the ever popular Best of BE Festival which this year includes artists from Spain, Ireland and Italy. Three performances, an inclusive supper with the performers, and plenty of lively discussions. This will be the third time BE Festival have brought their international line up to the HUB - it's one of our most popular events of the calendar year and we are sure this year's line up wont fail to disappoint! Finally a quick reminder to theatre makers and artists who may not already know -  the HUB is a rehearsal and making space, available to artists and companies in the area who have need of it. We also have a transit van (available to drivers over 25 who have held a full license for at least 3 yrs) and store of technical equipment available to those who have need of it. You can find out more on our website here.
