I have received some exciting news about my writing, as some of my followers may remember I read out my Victorian Gothic horror story at the Blood from the Quill Halloween event in Newcastle last year and it has just been announced that Wild Wolf Publishing are going to publish Blood from the Quill, i.e. all the short stories from that event. I am looking forward to seeing all the stories in print and hopefully, just in time for the Cleckheaton Literature Festival in April. Thank you to Victoria Watson for both organising the event and putting the stories forward for publishing.
I had a wonderful day yesterday at the York Railway Museum at my first SCBWI NE critique meeting, where the members made all the new scoobies feel very welcome indeed (there were several newcomers who joined in the critique sessions with feedback or observed at their first meet). It was a great event (thank you to Michael Cain and Catriona Tippin for organising and to Maureen Lynas and all the other regular members for the warm and friendly session) and I look forward to attending the next one in March. I was given some very helpful feedback on my current WIP, some useful information on plot and other elements of writing, plus details of writing groups and drama/writing events near to my area (thank you Debbie Coope and Morag Caunt). I thoroughly enjoyed hearing all the diverse and interesting writing from the talented people there and I can't wait to read more on all the WIP.
Talking of events in my area, for those of my followers who live in or near to Brighouse, there is a film screening of the award winning historical drama Mr Holmes this coming Thursday, details below:

Mr. Holmes is a new twist on the world’s
most famous detective. 1947, an aging Sherlock Holmes returns from a
journey to Japan, where, in search of a rare plant with powerful
restorative qualities, he has witnessed the devastation of nuclear
warfare. Now, in his remote seaside farmhouse, Holmes faces the end
of his days tending to his bees, with only the company of his
housekeeper and her young son, Roger. Grappling with the diminishing
powers of his mind, Holmes comes to rely upon the boy as he revisits
the circumstances of the unsolved case that forced him into
retirement, and searches for answers to the mysteries of life and
love – before it's too late
