HLF
is delighted to announce a special post-festival event with
Irvine Welsh
Sunday 3 April
2.30pm, £10 (£5 conc)
Age guidance: 16+ Diamond
Jubilee Lecture Theatre, The Business School, University of
Huddersfield, Queensgate, HD1 3DH
One of the most influential novelists of his generation, Irvine
Welsh kicks off his UK tour with a special HLF post-festival
event on 3 April.
The author of 10 novels, Welsh came to prominence with his
debut Trainspotting
(1993), which was successfully adapted for stage and screen. A
film adaptation of
Filth was released in 2013 and Porno (sequel
to Trainspotting)
will start filming this year, with the original cast and
director Danny Boyle.
At this not-to-be-missed In Conversation event, Welsh will be talking
to Nick Ahad about his brand new novel The Blade Artist,
which sees the dark past of Trainspotting
character, Begbie, catch up with his reinvented present-day
self.
We will be promoting this event from next week, so this is your
chance to book your ticket early:
Our Diary of Events page has more
info on other authors appearing at the festival.
You can also read our latest blog here on the
topical issue of whether authors should be paid for festival
appearances (we believe they should!).
Keep checking on our website and social media
sites for further information on all events (full brochure due
out at the end of January).
And there are still some tickets left for Levison Wood at the Town Hall but
they are selling fast!
