A Rendezvous with
Julia Darling ten years on
New Writing
North is working with Julia Darling’s friends and family, the BBC, and
Live Theatre to mount a series of events in 2015 to honour the tenth
anniversary of her death. There will be more news about events in the new
year but writers who knew Julia might want to book
tickets now for Rendevous
2, as it’s on sale and tickets are already selling well. The
event will be an evening celebrating Julia Darling’s writing, featuring
poetry, fiction, extracts from plays, and live music performed by many of
Julia’s long-time collaborators, performers and friends including The
Poetry Virgins.
New Writing North will also be announcing the winner of the inaugural
Julia Darling Travel Fellowship, a new award to support a writer to
travel and write, which we will be launching in January. If you knew
Julia Darling and would like to create an event that could form part of
the celebrations please get in touch by emailing claire@newwritingnorth.com.

was great to see so many new faces there and to see such an interest in
the awards. If you couldn’t make it to Newcastle, you can still catch us
in Wakefield (8 December), Manchester (10 December) and Liverpool (8
January). Due to overwhelming demand we have just released more tickets
for the previously sold out Manchester and Wakefield events. Catch them
while you can! Booking links are at www.newwritingnorth.com/news_details-northern-writers-awards-roadshows-december-and-january-details-3166.html.
