FEATURED | New report: creativity and culture attracts private investment We’ve published a new report on the importance of public investment in the arts and cultural sector in attracting further income, also known as the ‘Crowding In’ effect. The report was based on interviews with eight cultural organisations, including the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, the RSC and the National Theatre. It found that public investment boosts additional income by making organisations more viable and attractive to private investors, encouraging innovation and supporting early-stage research and development. | READ THE REPORT | Our Chair, Sir Nicholas Serota, spoke to the Guardian about the report and the economic benefit of public investment in the arts. | READ THE ARTICLE |

Meet the artist celebrating the faces of Portsmouth Using National Lottery Project Grants funding, artist Pete Codling met with the people of Portsmouth over 3 years, and painstakingly hand sketched 900 faces with charcoal – showcasing the maritime city’s diverse population.
The tribute to the city was created during Pete’s artist residency at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, and features both local people and household names like Harry Redknapp, Grayson Perry, and Sir Tim Peake.
The sail can be seen on the world’s first iron-hulled warship HMS Warrior, moored in Portsmouth Harbour as part of the VE Day celebrations. | READ MORE |
