One Year On - Our Creative Future: The Manifesto

365 days ago, we launched Our Creative Future: The Manifesto, which outlined six priority areas that the new UK Government must address to unlock the full potential of the UK's extraordinary Cultural and Creative Industries.

So far, the Manifesto has been downloaded over 2,000 times and has hit a media reach of 37.6 million. Now, we're revisiting those priorities with a series of blogs to see what has changed since then. Look on social for #OurCreativeFuture.

EDI hub: Sky Up Academy Studios' initiative to open access to creative education for school children

Sky Up Academy Studios is a collection of studios across the UK and Ireland offering an immersive experience for school students aged 8-18, with a large percentage of schools being from underserved communities.

The programme has seen over 300,000 students come through the studio doors since it began in 2012, supporting students to create their own news reports, movie trailers and more in its state-of-the-art studios.

For Creative UK's EDI hub, Create Diversity, we chatted with Nishy Lall, Head of Youth and Social Impact at Sky, to learn more about the organisation’s huge drive to put young people centre stage regardless of their background.

Forging Freelance Futures Report

Almost 30% of the cultural and creative industries' workforce is freelance, and they must be protected and supported. Creative UK's latest report is based on a survey of 1,272 freelancers and 221 organisations, as well as a series of regional focus groups, setting out a vision for a fairer freelance economy, sharing stats behind the stories of freelancers and suggesting major policy changes to combat these challenges.
