2025 Writers In Residence Meet our 2025 Writers In Residence, Shazia, Anita and Sallyanne. Each of them are emerging underrepresented authors and past winners of the Creative Future Writers’ Award.
Each writer has dedicated time to write residencies in unusual and non-traditional spaces to interact with people and gain inspiration, and lead writing workshops for local people. We'll be sharing more information about workshops taking place near you soon.

Write Out Loud Poetry Competition The Write Out Loud 2025 poetry competition marks the website’s 20th anniversary, and is open for entries. The judge is celebrated Bloodaxe Books editor and anthologist, Neil Astley, and the theme is ‘Echoes’- which is open to your own interpretation. The first prize is £500, second place £250, and third place £50.

Brighton People's Theatre Playwriting Workshops Join Brighton People's Theatre for five weeks of Playwriting Workshops starting Wednesday 23 April. Go to all five or drop into individual workshops.
Throw yourself into some creative writing exercises as a springboard to discuss playwriting essentials. Flex your creative muscles and deepen your writing practice.
