Someone gets
excited about a book
A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World
by C. A. Fletcher
I laughed, I cried but mostly I sighed with the sheer
pleasure of reading a wonderful story. I also have a dog (or two) and
read this on holiday looking out to sea - where the end of the world ebbs
and flows and the horizon stretches away. Magical book for a magical
time. (Kevin-the-librarian)
“A truly engrossing survival story, which gives us a
haunting vision of a ruined Britain that’s both dangerous and strangely
beautiful . . ” Keith Stuart, author of A Boy Made of Blocks

Sensible Footwear,
A Girl's Guide
Join
author and illustrator Kate Charlesworth for a discussion and Q&A
around her latest book, Sensible Footwear, A Girl's Guide.
Kate Charlesworth is a cartoonist, illustrator and writer
and has produced comics and illustrations since the 1970's.
Sensible Footwear is the first graphic study charting LGBT history from
1950 to the present - a stunning, personal memoir and an instant classic.
"Kate's book is a fascinating history of how post-war Britain
transformed from a country hostile towards 'queer' lives to the LGBT+
universe of today, recording political gains and challenges against a
backdrop of the author's personal experience: realising her own
sexuality, coming out to her parents and embracing lesbian and gay
culture." Amazon
This is a free event in celebration of LGBT History Month. Copies of the
book will be available to buy on the evening.

Pirates of Penzance
Titanic
Carival of the Animals
Danse Macabre
The Seahawk
Conductor: Rita Castro Blanco
Narrator: Janet Robinson
Leader: Eileen Butterworth
Ahoy, me hearties, you won't need to be an old salt to
enjoy this afternoon of music about pirates and the life they live on
the open seas. Even landlubbers will be welcome to come aboard ships
such as the Black Pearl or Queen Anne's Revenge and meet pirates like
Captains Kidd and Pugwash, Blackbeard and Anne Bonny. You might want to
dress up for the occasion and be ready to come up on stage to join in
the music.
Our February afternoon concert has become a family
favourite, an ideal first concert for children or grandchildren, with
the Town Hall providing a great venue where they can experience live
orchestral music in an informal setting-and even get a chance to try
their hand as a conductor. Our very own Pirate Queen, Rita, will be at
the helm for an exciting afternoon of music.
