Belfast Thriller '71 - in cinemas now!
|
|
|
Yann Demange's critically acclaimed debut feature,
action thriller ‘71 starring Jack O'Connell, is released at cinemas
today following its UK premiere at the BFI London FIlm Festival last
night, where it screened in the first feature competition. The Warp
Films / Crab Apple Films production, set in Belfast but filmed primarily
in Sheffield and Leeds with additional scenes filmed in Liverpool and
Blackburn, received funding from Screen Yorkshire's Yorkshire Content
Fund. More

Don't Panic! Stellar British Cast Announced for
'Dad's Army'
Screen Yorkshire is investing in a feature film remake
of the iconic and much loved TV series Dad's Army, to be directed by
BAFTA nominated director Oliver Parker. A stellar, award-winning
British cast will star, including Bill Nighy, Catherine Zeta Jones,
Toby Jones, Tom Courtenay, Michael Gambon, Blake Harrison, Danny Mays,
Sarah Lancashire, Alison Steadman, Mark Gatiss and Annette Crosbie.
Shooting will take place entirely on location in Yorkshire commencing
this month. More

Screen Yorkshire Scores Five at BFI London Film
Festival
The UK’s most important film festival, the BFI London
Film Festival (08-19 October), has no less than five feature films
included in its programme backed by Screen Yorkshire’s Yorkshire
Content Fund. The films are: Testament
of Youth (the Lord Mayor's Centrepiece Gala screening),
X+Y
(selected for the Love Section), and Hockney (selected for the
Documentary Competition) which will each have their World or European
Premieres, whilst
’71 and Catch
Me Daddy have both been selected in the First Feature Competition
for the prestigious Sutherland Award. More

Feature Doc on Bradfordian Artist David Hockney
at cinemas 28 November
Screen Yorkshire is investing in Randall Wright’s
new feature length documentary on Bradford born artist David Hockney
through its Yorkshire
Content Fund. Acclaimed filmmaker Randall Wright offers
a unique view of this unconventional artist who is now reaching new
peaks of popularity worldwide. A Definitive Exploration Of One Of
The Most Important Artists Of His Generation, the 105-minute
documentary produced by Fly
Film will be released by Picturehouse Entertainment at
cinemas across the UK on 28 November 2014, ahead of a 2015 broadcast on
BBC Two. More

'Testament of Youth' To Open LIFF, Leading
Festival’s Biggest Ever Line-up of New Yorkshire Films
The 28th Leeds International Film Festival opens on
Wednesday 5th November with Testament of Youth, which leads the
festival’s biggest ever line-up of feature films produced in Yorkshire.
Other features screening in the programme backed by Screen Yorkshire's
Yorkshire Content Fund include Catch
Me Daddy and
X+Y. More

Feature film 'X+Y' has world premiere at the
Toronto International Film Festival
Screen Yorkshire backed feature film X+Y had its world
premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last month, to
unanaimous acclaim from the key international film critics. The warm
and inspirational drama produced by Origin Pictures, filmed in
Sheffield, Cambridge and Taiwan in 2013. It follows socially awkward
teenage math prodigy (Asa
Butterfield, The
Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, Hugo) who finds new confidence
and friendships when he lands a spot on the British squad at the
International Mathematics Olympiad. Asa is flanked by a stellar
British cast includingSally
Hawkins, Rafe Spall and Eddie Marsan. More

Screen Yorkshire invests in three part ITV
Thriller 'Black Work' starring Sheridan Smith
Screen Yorkshire is investing through the Yorkshire
Content Fund in a new three part drama series Black Work,
produced by Mammoth
Screen for ITV. Sheridan
Smith (Cilla,
The Widower, Mrs Biggs) stars as Jo Gillespie in the
riveting thriller written by Matt Charman, which sees police officer Jo
confront difficult truths about her family life and her marriage to
Ryan. Shooting is due to commence on the compelling three-part
story in Leeds this autumn. More
