Thanks to my fellow blogger Displacement Activity for the following competition information:
This competition asks for either the first 2,000
words of a crime novel or a crime short story of the same wordcount to be
entered by the closing date of 31st December 2013. The first prize is a
weekend's writing retreat (including accommodation) worth £500. Full details
may be found at the Crime and Publishment competition website.
Previously unpublished original short fiction of
between 2,000 and 7,000 words may be entered into this prestigious annual
competition. There's no restriction on genre, theme or subject matter, though
the competition organisers emphasise that they're looking for innovation,
imagination and ambition in writing. Entrants should not hold (or have held in
the past) a publishing contract. The closing date is 1st March 2014. There's a
first prize of £2,500. Full details may be found at the White Review
Short Story Prize website.
