Another successful Writers Group last night - 6-8pm every other Monday at Cleckheaton Library, Whitcliffe Road, Cleckheaton, BD19 3DX, if you would be interested in joining a friendly and encouraging writing community - where we shared lots of valuable information (tips gleaned from recent workshops, articles/books read with salient points and free to enter competitions with deadlines coming up soon) and workshopped two new writing projects. Paul shared a fun religious piece he wrote for his congregation (I hope to see this posted on his blog soon) and I shared the new chapters (3!) I had written for my romance novel yesterday. Although this is a work in progress, I was spurred on by attending the Romance Writers Workshop last Friday (see previous blog on Morley Literature Festival). I have now got seven chapters written and hope to complete more today. The biography cards tip that Dr Jayne Rodgers recommended is working a treat and before I start writing today, I will be completing the Building Your Story questions 1-8 that will keep me on track plot-wise. Still aiming to get this novel to first draft stage by the end of November.
Looking forward to the next meeting (24 October) where Dawn will be sharing some new chapters from her brilliant childrens novel and hopefully our new member Neil will be sharing some of his fantasy writing.
I've got to get cracking on my book again or else I'll be letting the side down! (btw it's Dawn - just in case you wondered).
