Snow place like Leeds this Christmas
Wrap up warm and explore Leeds this winter with a series of magical walks that blend heritage, history, and a touch of seasonal sparkle. From festive parkland paths to starlit abbey ruins and waterside wanderings, discover new ways to experience Leeds Museums and Galleries this winter.
We are also looking forward to brightening up your January with our cosy tours and events so make sure to add them to the (inevitable) calendar you get in your Christmas stocking.
Cosy Holiday Walks
Slow down with a scenic canal-side walk to Leeds Industrial Museum. Following the water’s edge, this route offers reflections, wildlife, and reminders of Leeds’ industrial past. Finish your journey at LIM, where stories of innovation, engineering, and working life bring the city’s history to life.
Discover the abbey ruins with our magical starry winter trail.
Explore the ruins in December, and see if you can spot all the stars hiding around the abbey!
Why not visit our café for a warming hot chocolate to take along?
Step into a festive wonderland at Lotherton this winter. Wander through the historic estate as seasonal decorations, wintry scenery, and peaceful woodland paths bring festive cheer to every step. Perfect for families and quiet reflection alike, this gentle walk offers a calm and charming seasonal escape.
Looking forward to Next Year
During January and February Lotherton Hall is open by tour only, to allow us to deep clean the house and collections. Join us on a tour to discover the fascinating history of the house, the family that used to live here and the collections that make this a unique place.
You may also get to see some of the conservation cleaning, with rooms and collections as you’ve never seen them before!
Step back in time to discover the secrets of Temple Newsam House!
Uncover centuries of history, art, and intrigue at one of England’s finest historic estates. Explore over 500 years of fascinating stories, from Tudor royalty to Georgian elegance. Marvel at the stunning architecture, amazing art collections, and beautifully restored interiors.
Join us for a guided walk through the Temple Newsam Estate as we explore the sights and sounds of local birdlife in the heart of winter. Led by an experienced guide, this peaceful January outing offers the chance to spot a variety of resident and visiting birds - from robins, crows and coots, to maybe even a raucous ring-necked parakeet or two!
Can you help support culture in Leeds?
Your generous donations, and your support helps us present and preserve the culture of Leeds for future generations.
