Stepping up



Next month sees the long-awaited London debut of Nature Theater of Oklahoma, one of the US’s most innovative and irreverent theatre companies, with their hilarious production No President.

We also kick off our summer festival Dance Your Way Home with a bevy of toe-tapping treats to get you raring to join us on the dance floor.

WED 9 – FRI 11 JUL

Two rival security companies, made up of ex-ballet dancers and former actors, guard a mysterious theatre curtain.

But things soon spiral out of control in a darkly comic blend of ballet, silent film, slapstick, calisthenics, predatory animal behaviour and modern dance from one of the US’s most innovative and irreverent theatre companies.

A 12-hour theatre-rave odyssey, featuring dance, music and visual art, from leading Chinese artist Tianzhuo Chen and his Asian Dope Boys collective.

WED 23 & THU 24 JUL

The Milly Rock, a viral dance inspired by the rapper 2 Milly, takes centre stage in the acclaimed choreographer’s London debut.

Queer embodiment and desire, collectivity and subjectivity are all explored in this durational dance built around the simple movement of the box step.

Inspired by Emma Warren’s book of the same name, our summer programme is an ode to the dance floors – from nightclubs to Irish dance halls, to street parties – that unite us across space and time. Find workshops, performances and free dance parties to join in with.

Weaving personal narrative with recordings of her family under occupation, artist Marah Haj Hussein combines storytelling, audio and visuals to reveal the layered forms of domination a language can exert on another.
