Countdown to Christmas @ Seven

 

Tonight, Wednesday 11th December, 7.30pm, the chance to see a new work being prepared for touring by Rees Dance Company showcasing the highly athletic and original work of choreographer Gavin Rees. Seven Venue. Tickets £7.

On Thursday 12th December, 7.30pm, JazzLeeds – Ray Charles and the Giants of Soul by Jeremy Sassoon. This tribute to Ray Charles and the Giants of Soul captures the imagination of Jazz, Blues and Soul audiences alike. Seven Venue. Tickets £20 full, £18 concession, £10 for aged 30 and under.

Schwa – Love Is Not All on Friday 13th December, 7.30pm, tells the story in music and words of Edna St.Vincent Millay, the Taylor Swift of 1930s American poetry, through an original set of songs, setting words by this radical, bisexual poet who filled stadiums in 1930’s America before burning out and dying in her fifties. Seven Venue. Tickets £12 /£9 concession.

On Saturday 14th December, a lot to be excited about. Christmas Festive Carols will be performed by the Community Christmas Choir in Seven’s Courtyard at 1pm. In the 4-6pm slot Winter Warmers – Lonan , this acoustic trio take an engaging musical journey, through evocative ballads to upbeat folk songs. “Rootsy acoustic joy.” Seven Bar. Pay What You Feel. Organised by MEWL Music.

On Sunday 15th December, 1.30-4pm, JazzLeeds – Dom Pipkin. Solo blues piano Piano virtuoso Dom Pipkin is one of Europe’s top exponents of New Orleans rhythm and blues, breathing new life into the classic funk sounds of The Meters, Dr John, Fats Domino and Professor Longhair, with these influences emerging in his own irresistible songwriting. Seven Venue. Tickets £12 / £10 conc. £12 on the door. Under 16s free.

Also on Sunday 15th December, 7.30pm, get ready to test your knowledge in a relaxed atmosphere at the Seven Quiz, the best quiz in Chapel Allerton and great way to end the weekend with friends and family. Seven Bar. £5 per team entry. With prizes.

Next week, sorry again, Silky & Friends on Wednesday 18th December, is SOLD OUT, but are tickets available for Arts At The Arms on Friday 20th December 8pm,  bringing a fresh dose of Yorkshire talent and trademark mix of theatre, comedy, poetry and music from local creatives showcasing original work. Seven Venue. Tickets £12 full /£10 concession.

On Saturday 21st December 4-6pm Winter Warmers – Kwame D. A welcome return visit from one of our favourites, guaranteed to get you singing, tapping or even dancing to some smooth reggae beats and soulful songs. Infectious and uplifting. Seven Bar. Pay What You Feel. Organised by MEWL Music

JazzLeeds – Nicky Allan at Christmas is on Sunday 22nd December 1.30pm. Vocalist and pianist Nicky Allan is a great entertainer! Influenced by all the great women in Jazz, especially women musicians such as Diana Krall, Shirley Horn, Nina Simone and Aretha Franklin, her vocal style is a blend of wholesome Blues combined with soulful Jazz and more than a hint of R & B. Seven Bar. Pay What You Feel. Organised by JazzLeeds.

Also on Sunday 22nd December, 7.30pm, look forward to the Seven Christmas Quiz, bound to get you in the mood for the festive season. Seven Bar.£5 per team entry. With prizes.

Seven will be closed from Monday 23rd - Thursday 26th December. We re-open on Friday 27th December with some fun music events between Christmas and New year.
