Welcome to the August edition of What’s On
 
It might be the end of the summer holidays but the fun doesn’t have to stop when we go back to school or work.

On Saturday 10 September, Batley Festival returns for its 5th year with free, fun activities for all the family, and at 8:30pm, The Batley Picture Show from outdoor arts experts Periplum rolls into town for one night only. Don’t miss it!

And if you are already thinking of what to do in the next school holiday, tickets are On Sale Now for our next family show The Worried Walrus, touring various venues this October Half Term.

Join us for a great fun-filled day for all in the heart of Batley.
 
This year, the festival turns 5 and is celebrating with a packed programme of activities and performances that you’re sure to enjoy.  The town square will be taken over with activities and events that are free, family friendly and most importantly FUN. 
 
Sail away on the slowest ride on earth aboard The Life Boat from The Institute of Crazy Dancing, take a walk with Yeshe the Yak by Thingumajig,  create a beautiful mosaic masterpiece with Urban Canvas or dance along to the unique Balkan brass beats from The Baghdaddies. Local talent will also be out in force with a busy schedule of performers in the Town Hall and creative workshops with artists in the Library and Memorial Gardens. A day that is sure to put Batley on the map!

For one night only, Batley is the star of the show. Don’t miss this unforgettable night that will stay in your heart forever. Gather in Batley’s memorial gardens at dusk to see the town’s history come alive with giant projections, music from Dewsbury’s own Manasamitra, poetry from Batley’s
Gujarati Writer’s Forum, aerial artists, live action local performers and eye-catching pyrotechnic effects.

Join first-time competitor in the Annual Animal Beauty Contest, Wendy the Walrus, as she goes on a magical journey to the bottom of the ocean to re-think what real beauty is.

Running from
24 – 28 October, The Worried Walrus will be showing at our On Tour venues across North Kirklees: The Northorpe Barn, Mirfield; The Venue, Birstall; Batley Bulldogs RLFC; Thornhill Sports and Community Centre and Healey Community Centre.

Perfect for under 8’s and their grown ups.
