Welcome to the new Film & Festivals newsletter from National Media Museum. There's lots happening in our cinemas over the next few months - including the upgrade of our IMAX cinema (see pictures below for a sneak peek of the work in progress).  Plus, our unique festival of large-screen formats, Widescreen Weekend, returns this October with REAL FILM, REALLY BIG including 2001: A Space Odyssey and Oklahoma!.
 
 
 

 


 

What is Widescreen Weekend?
Since 1993, this unique festival of large-screen formats has been celebrating the past, present and future of film through its extraordinary array of widescreen technologies.

This year’s festival brings together a host of films, speakers and special events which combine to fuel the passion for the best in large format filmmaking and cinematic endeavour.

Passes are now on sale from just £80. The full programme will be announced on 2 September when individual tickets will also be going on sale.

We're Upgrading Your IMAX Experience
You may have heard – we're upgrading our IMAX cinema with a brand new digital projection system and improved seating. This means more new releases on the region’s biggest screen, plus more leg room and comfort! We're due to reopen the theatre in September, in time for films like Spectre and Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Weekly Film Listings
The National Media Museum remains open throughout the IMAX upgrade, and our Pictureville and Cubby Broccoli cinemas will continue to show the latest releases. From cult classics to family blockbusters we work with Picturehouse Cinemas to bring you the very best in film.
