Free event for young writers in Leeds Tuesday 20 August 2013

I have been forwarded the following information on a local event for young writers which may be of interest:

The Society of Young Publishers (Dead Ink)

The SYP in Leeds:

The Summer Social

The Society of Young Publishers in the North and Midlands invites you to The Summer Social. Join us for an evening of readings, discussions, socialising and drinking.

With readings from F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby and some of the best young writers in Leeds drawn from the LS13 20 under 40 the evening promises to be the highlight of a series of events in Leeds by The Society of Young Publishers. There will be free wine and canapes and we can assure you that The Maven is capable of serving up a mean cocktail too.

Representing some of the best new talent that Leeds has to offer we are proud to announce readings from Adam Lowe, S.J. Bradley and Richard Smythe.

The Maven is Leeds' most characteristic cocktail lounge with a pre-prohibition look and feel but with a twist.

We can't wait to see you all there.

Free entry and doors are at 7pm on the evening of Tuesday 20th August.

Established in 1949, the Society of Young Publishers is open to anyone in publishing or a related trade – or who is hoping to be soon.

The SYP was originally for under-35s, but it’s now open to anyone and caters especially for those with fewer than ten years’ publishing experience. Run by a team of dedicated volunteers, our aim is to help assist, inform and enthuse anyone trying to break into the industry or progress within it.
