Lit & Phil,
Newcastle: Thursday 9 May, 6.30pm

We’re
delighted to be hosting this special event in partnership with Speaking
Volumes Live Literature, bringing the best in European crime writing
to Tyneside. You know and have devoured Scandinavian crime novelists over
the past few years; now’s the time to discover bestselling writers in the
genre from Poland and Denmark.
Zygmunt Miloszewski is an award-winning Polish crime novelist, whose
most recent book is A
Grain of Truth (Bitter Lemon Press, 2012), which Publisher’s Weekly
said had “a smart plot, an engagingly acerbic lead, and a nuanced
portrayal of 2009 Poland”.
Joining him will be Pia Juul, one of Denmark’s most celebrated
writers, whose awards as both a poet and prose writer speak of the
quality of her work. Her most recent novel is The Murder of Halland (Peirene Press, 2012), which Eurocrime described
as “…in many ways a perfect ‘literary’ crime novella.”
The writers will be interviewed by Rosie Goldsmith, and read from
their most recent books and take questions from the audience.
Tickets: £3 on the door. No advance booking is required.
Books will be available to buy and the authors available for
dedications and signings.
