Running over 10 days, and comprising theatre, comedy, workshops, tours and exhibitions, Edinburgh Deaf Festival is an accessible celebration of deaf culture, language and heritage. Taking place at the Scottish Parliament meanwhile, The Festival of Politics has lively debates and thought-provoking panels tackling some of the most pressing social, political and environmental issues of our time.

There’s the chance to learn more about lives of Edinburgh’s medieval citizens at Edinburgh’s First Burghers.

For art lovers, two major exhibitions open this month. Featuring 180 iconic fabrics showcasing the rich history of print, pattern and design, IKEA: Magical Patterns debuts at Dovecot Studios. At Royal Scottish Academy, Andy Goldsworthy: Fifty Years features drawings, photographs, films and sketchbooks by the renowned artist.
