Lawrence Batley Theatre Creative Workshop and States of Verbal Undress ticket 22 May

Rose Condo at the Lawrence Batley Theatre sent me the following information about a creative writing workshop that I thought my followers would be interested in.  Unfortunately I am working on that day, so will be unable to attend, but if any of you attend, please let me know, as I would love some feedback/review of the event:

LEARNING TO LISTEN
RASA THEATRE CREATIVE WORKSHOP

Who do you think you are? Would your identity change if you moved across continents? In this vibrant and dynamic show, two actors play a multiplicity of richly drawn characters in a unique quest to find the voices of Britain today.

THE PUBLIC REVIEWS
Based on two years of interviews with immigrant communities, the show will unveil a variety of characters as diverse as a Vietnamese drag artist, a Burmese activist and a Tamil who grew up in Bavaria as well as background from an Iranian, Singhalese, Chinese, and Britons. With a multiplicity of identities, this show takes a poignant, funny and insightful look at what happens when new identities slip.
‘a play to get you thinking’
MANCHESTER’S FINEST
The creator of STATES OF VERBAL UNDRESS will lead a creative writing workshop which will explore personal histories and themes of migration through stories. The workshop will be facilitated by Rasa Theatre’s Artistic Director, Rani Moorthy, and will explore themes through using voices from your personal experiences to create monologues, prose or poetry. The workshop will include sense memory exercises to ‘recreate’ a character/scene from experience, and exercises that help to capture rhythms and speech patterns to create unique and surprising characters.
