I’ve never seen London as twinkling as it is currently. Glossy hotel foyers are bustling with tourists laden with shopping bags crammed with festive baubles. The Savoy has taken winter white as its theme, while Claridge’s chose Burberry’s Daniel Lee to create their fabled Christmas tree (and which becomes a cultural talking point in the lead up to the big reveal) – indulge in a London micro break with our recommendations. I also visited Neal’s Yard in Covent Garden (embarrassingly for the first time ever) and history wafts from every brick and cobbled stone – devastatingly pretty when adorned in lights (I could imagine the clattering of horse hooves in days of yore). I suspect it’s this season that our millionaires and youngsters, who’ve scarpered the UK for tax reasons and employment opportunities, miss most. I can’t imagine Dubai gives off the same Christmas vibes. So, if you’re feeling a bit discouraged by our country at the moment, go and be dazzled by its lights – and remember we’re in it for the long game. This too shall pass.
Have a great week,
WHAT’S EXCITING ME THIS WEEK

Dinner – And A Show
There’s nothing more festive than catching one of London’s big hitter musicals. Paddington is next on my list – I just want to see how they do it. I took my son to see MJ The Musical, but not before he’d chomped his way through a huge steak at STK Strand. Here are the restaurants hooking up with theatre for a night to remember.
It’s A Doll’s Life
Christmas is about fantasy – and what is more fantastical than a doll’s house? This month, we step inside this Kensington townhouse where everything is perfectly scaled, exquisitely crafted and decidedly not for children. It’s a miniature marvel – a jewel-box world built for grown-ups with a love of tiny perfection. We’re entranced.
