Now Live For December π 1:1 Agent & Editor Meetings |
|
|
Hello! Hope this finds you well, warm--and feeling creative and inspired.
Agent and editor meetings are now live for December.
If you're tired of form letters and want insightful advice, our kind, thoughtful (and even warm and funny) agents are here to help.
If you need help choosing, you can try our faculty search engine, or use our "What service is right for me?" quiz.
We know our faculty members well and are happy to make recommendations. (Hint: You can even tell us how blunt you'd like your feedback! We have everything from "Tell it like it is" to "Actual cinnamon roll.")
Also, need a gift for the critique partner who has everything? (Or perhaps something for you!) We have agent consultations, editorial critiques, cards and notebooks and tote bags, membership, event tickets, and gifts under $25.
We hope you have a beautiful holiday season filled with people who appreciate you--and who come bearing chocolate. (These have been Jessica's favorite holiday cookie since the nineties, and work well with wheat or gluten-free flour.)
We're here if you need us!
All best, Jessica & Julie |

One of the worst parts about querying? You have to make choices without all the information.
You wait months for a vague response—if you get one at all. "Didn't like the execution," says one rejection.
Okay... but what execution? The opening? The middle? That subplot?
So you start guessing. You delete the first chapter. Rewrite your pitch. Cut that comma haunting you at 3am. (Surely it was that comma--it never felt right.)
After months of endless pivots, you've spun yourself in circles.
This is no way to have a happy creative life.
Instead, we have a solution: Ask an agent. Not just any agent—an expert in your genre who knows exactly what works in their inbox and what makes their colleagues say yes.
Get real answers to your real questions:- Why am I getting rejected?
- Are there red flags I'm missing?
- Is my voice strong enough? My concept marketable? My comps on-target?
- Is it really that first chapter... or something I never even considered?
We can't change the pace of publishing or make agents like the same things.
But we can get you an insightful conversation with someone who understands this business inside and out. Imagine moving forward knowing: - Your concept works
- Your pitch is clear and compelling
- You're querying the right agents
- Your rejections are about taste, not technique
So much better than the "I KNOW it's that comma on page four" spiral, right?
For the cost of "I got rejected again" drinks with friends, you could ease your stress for months—not just hours.*
Check out our available agents here--or drop us a line and we'll help you find your perfect match.
One more thing: Whatever you choose, give it time. Don't make edits with every rejection. Wait for a pattern to your responses, a suggestion that makes sense, and feedback you love.
We're here if you need us.
All best, Jessica & Julie
*Okay, yes, you may live somewhere that drinks are less expensive, and if so, we love this for you! We also don’t think alcohol is a solution–alone, it’s a solvent–but here’s the chemistry if you’re curious. Please drink responsibly, if you do. |
