Ukiyo-e Until Sunday, 1 March (11am - 4pm) at Cliffe Castle FREE This autumn at Cliffe Castle we are taking the opportunity to look at Ukiyo-e or Japanese wood block prints. It’s easy to see why local industrialists collected them, with subjects ranging from landscapes, folklore and myths to images of the ‘floating world’ – the seductive urban life of Edo period Japan with its many pleasures. Punctuated throughout with objects to compliment the prints,including netsuke and samurai weapons and armour, Ukiyo-e explores the beauty and delicacy of the Japanese objects that form part of our wonderful and varied museum collection. Christmas Light Switch-Ons Christmas lights are being switched on across the district. Here's when you can see them over the next few weeks: St James' Christmas Tree Festival Saturday, 22 November - Sunday, 29 November (11am - 6pm) at St James' Church, Thornton FREE Come and see a stunning display of decorated Christmas trees created by local groups and charities. Entry is free, and donations are welcome to support your favourite causes National Tree Week Saturday, 22 November - Friday, 28 November (10am - 12pm) at Denso Marston Nature Reserve FREE Celebrate National Tree Week and deepen your appreciation for trees through a series of engaging activities. Guided walks Fantastic, scenic walks taking place across the district: - Baildon to Guiseley (Saturday, 22 November | 10am - 1pm) - The route will circuit above the Gill Beck Valley to Low Spring before ascending fairly steeply to Hawksworth and on to the Odda ridge, where you can enjoy lovely views. We then take a good path to White Cross and on to Guiseley Station for a return journey on the train.
- Millenium Way Circular Walk, Baildon Moor (Saturday, 29 November | 10.45am - 2.30pm) - This final Millennium Way Circular Walk for 2025 will depart from and finish at Brackenhall Countryside Centre. Leaving Brackenhall, you will take a rising path which becomes quite steep, across farmland, and moorland towards Dobrudden. You then bear right on a moorland track with extensive views across Airedale. You contour below the summit of Baildon Moor before descending down the old “Collier Track” to the edge of Baildon. You will then walk along a lane to Faweather Grange and pass through the hamlet of Birch Close to pass Golcar and Glovershaw Farms. You follow a path which is narrow and rocky in places with a stream down to your right, and soon emerge on to open land above Shipley Glen. We make our way down Brackenhall Green and back to to the Countryside Centre.

This annual market features over 70 stalls both indoors and outdoors, offering seasonal gifts, crafts, and treats. Saltaire Living Advent Calendar Monday, 1 December - Thursday, 1 January (6pm - 10.30pm) in Saltaire FREE Running since 2006, the Saltaire Living Advent Calendar has become a real highlight for Saltaire and Bradford, and also attracts visitors from further afield and followers online from across the globe. With its quirky window designs in picturesque settings, this magical event sees windows light daily up throughout the month in houses, schools, shops and churches until Christmas Eve. There is a strong community focus; anyone in the village can take part, and participants include new residents, children, seasoned window creators, professional artists and local businesses.
