It’s easy to forget how much tension builds up when we’re sitting at our desk all day; screens, deadlines, constant pings.
Try this: every hour, pause for 30 seconds. Sit upright, roll your shoulders back, take three slow deep breaths, and stretch your wrists and neck gently.
These micro-pauses can reset stress levels and sharpen focus. And if you're craving more than a moment of calm, Leeds Mindfulness Festival has a great line-up for you this autumn…
Through music, story sharing and other interactive activities, community music worker and songwriter Nicky Bray invites you to join her in a playful exploration of the theme of 'mindful hobbies'.
Join meditation teacher Zeenat Cameron for a guided practice on Saraswati, Hindu Goddess of intelligence, harmony and creativity.
Join the Leeds Mindfulness Co-Operative for this 2 hour session using mindfulness to support physical and mental health and wellbeing.
We'll be learning skills to live well, even with pain or long term health conditions.
The Triratna Buddhist community in Leeds share the Buddhist vision, and how to relate this to busy city life.
Leeds has a healthy history of different Buddhist communities in the city. Ordained members of the Triratna Buddhist community share the basics of Buddhist vision and relate this to city life.

If you’ve been waiting for the perfect excuse to climb one of Yorkshire’s most iconic landmarks…this is it! After years of bad timing and missed dates, I finally got the chance to climb Wainhouse Tower in Halifax at the weekend - and it was every bit as epic as I’d hoped! Standing at 77 metres tall, Wainhouse Tower is the tallest folly in the world. Originally built as a chimney (but never used as one), it’s now a soaring observatory with 369 steps to a panoramic viewing gallery. And the views from the top? Truly unforgettable. Even though we braved the only rainstorm of the day, we still managed to spot Emley Moor Mast, Stoodley Pike, and miles of rolling Yorkshire countryside. And honestly, I think the dramatic weather made it even more memorable! This was a rare opportunity - the tower is only open to the public on select dates, and this year marks its 150th anniversary, so they’ve added some extra Heritage Open Day sessions. But the final one is coming up fast… 🗓️ Final open date: Saturday 20th September If you’ve ever looked up at the tower and thought “one day…” - let that day be now. 👉 Click here to book your slot and experience one of West Yorkshire’s most fascinating hidden gems while you still can. (And maybe pack a raincoat just in case 😉) Until our next adventure, Yorkshire Events What's on in Yorkshire this weekend? Here's a glimpse of what's on in Yorkshire this weekend 👀 West Yorkshire: The World Curry Festival begins this week as part of Bradford 2025, celebrating global flavours in the UK’s curry capital. MON 23 MAR 2026 HARRY ENFIELD AND NO CHUMSJoin us for a rare and entertaining evening with legendary satirical comedian and self-styled “stupid idiot”, Harry Enfield. From the meteoric rise of Loadsamoney, a Thatcherite Visionary, to the fury of Kevin the Teenager, Harry will reflect on 40 years of arsing about in comedy and bring some of his favourite characters vividly back to life on stage. Then it’s over to your questions: your chance to ask how it all works for him, what he’s most proud of, and what he says to the many who ask, “You wouldn’t be allowed to do your stuff today, would you?” Don’t miss an unforgettable evening with a brilliantly silly and strikingly insightful comedian. |
