BD is LIT Friday, 7 November - Saturday, 8 November (5pm - 9pm) in the city centre FREE On Friday, 7 and Saturday, 8 November (5pm – 9pm), Bradford’s city centre will be transformed by a collection of dazzling light installations and performances by local, national and international artists as we explore the Colour of Light. In collaboration with Bradford 2025, BD: is LIT invites you to see Bradford in a new light and rediscover your city. From large scale installations to theatre and awe-inspiring light and sound artwork, there’s something for everyone and it's absolutely free! Highlights include: - Phenix – Taking its cue from the mythical creature, this ten-metre phoenix lights up the night with a call for hope, strength and power in the face of adversity.
- Lighthouse – Part gig, part light show, part apocalyptic rave, Lighthouse is a euphoric new performance from musician & composer Jez Colborne. A veteran lighthouse keeper is posted to a barren rock in the middle of the ocean. He loves the isolation. But after he loses contact with the mainland, decades pass. As oncoming automation threatens everything he’s ever known, can he protect the lighthouse or has his time alone blurred the lines between reality and fantasy? Premiering at BD: is LIT, audiences are invited to take a dark sonic trip blending original music with projection, film, sculpture & movement.
- Harmonic Portals - Chris Plant's Harmonic Portals are minimalist light and sound sculptures exploring surface textures and colour harmonies. They translate red, green, and blue light frequencies into audio tones, allowing you to listen to the colours you see. This unique installation invites you to see the world anew and reimagine Bradford's historic buildings.
