As part of European Local Democracy Week, we are hosting two events in Dewsbury - Speakers' Corner: A Living Wage poetry lunch on 7 Oct and The Political Game, an interative workshop with Hidden Track Theatre on 10 Oct Fun Palaces 2017 is coming to Kirklees Libraries between 7-27 Oct. Experience your local library like never before in a fun day for all the family. Expect hands-on art, music, storytelling and literature activities for all ages A Real Alien Adventure is zooming into a community venue near you this half-term from 23-27 Oct. How about the debates over zero-hour contracts? Did you know that one of the first advocates of a fair wage for workers was from Dewsbury? An evening for families, friends and neighbours to get together this half-term Shining a light on the town and the talent of 25 artists. Togethering is a magical show with music, shadow puppetry, fire-drawings, illuminations and story-telling. Produced for Dewsbury, by local artists working with acclaimed outdoor art company Walk the Plank. The Ruck is the new play from Kevin Fegan, inspired by his time with national league champions Batley Bulldogs U16 Girls' Team travelling Australia's Gold Coast.
